Alright, so I’ve been eyeing this Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001 for a while now. It’s called the Gondolo Serata, and man, it’s a real looker. It’s got this Art Deco vibe that I just dig. Anyway, I finally decided to go for it and remake one for myself. Here’s how it went down.
First off, I did a ton of research. I mean, you can’t just jump into remaking something like this. The design caught my eyes, I need to know all the details about it. I learned that it’s a “jewelry watch” and it’s back in their current collection. Apparently, it’s got a unique style and it’s supposed to be timeless. I gotta say, they’re not wrong.
Then, I started looking at the specs. It’s not a huge watch, which is good for me. The dimensions are 28.6 x 40.85 mm, and it’s only 7.36 mm thick. It’s also water-resistant to 30 meters, so I guess you could wear it in the shower, but I probably won’t. It’s too beautiful, I don’t want to get a single drop of water on it.
Next, I had to figure out how to actually remake this thing. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. There are all these intricate details, I started from the “form” shaped outlook, there are some details needed to be polished, it took me lots of time and failures, I was sweating like a pig. I start to feel that I am really making it, like, I AM REALLY MAKING IT. It’s not just a dream or a thought, I make it from zero to one.
Here are some details I focused on:
- The Case: Getting that unique “form” shape right was a real challenge. It’s not just a rectangle, it’s got these curves and angles that are super specific. I found a material that has a similar look and started to work.
- The Overall Look: The whole watch has this elegant, Art Deco feel. I wanted to capture that in my remake, I can feel the design of Art Deco style case is amazing, it is distinguished, that’s why I chose this watch to remake.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally finished my remake. It’s not perfect, of course. It’s my first time doing this, there’s no way I can make it perfect. But I’m pretty damn proud of it. It really captures the spirit of the original Gondolo Serata, I think. And honestly, the process of making it was half the fun. Now, every time when I look at it, I could not be more satisfied, this is a big success in my life.
So, that’s my story of remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001. It’s like a dream come true, from start to end. It was a wild ride, but I’m so glad I did it. I got a new watch and a new memory. What a day!
