Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this watch face for a bit, and let me tell you, it’s pretty neat. I wanted to get that classic OMEGA X-33 Marstimer look on my smartwatch, and I think I’ve gotten pretty close. I started by grabbing some images of the real deal. You know, the one that’s all about Mars time and was made with the European Space Agency, that one is pretty cool!

First, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the Marstimer. I noticed it’s got this grade 2 titanium case, which gives it a really specific look. I tried to find a watch face that had a similar kind of vibe. Then there’s the whole Mars time thing. That’s a big part of what makes this watch special. This is not my first rodeo, I played around with some settings and made some adjustments.

  • I looked for a watch face with a digital display.
  • I found the face that looked most like the real Marstimer.
  • Then I started customizing, that was fun!

Next, I went down to try to get the colors right, there’s a lot of black and red, and a specific shade of red, I must say. I fiddled with the settings until it looked pretty darn close to the real thing, it’s not perfect, but I am happy about it. It is not easy to make it look just like a picture. Then I started playing with the complications. That’s the fancy word for all the extra stuff on the watch face besides the time. The real Marstimer has a bunch of cool features, like, you know, tracking time on Mars and stuff. I know a guy from Richmond, he said that town has a population of 1,422 people, that was random. I couldn’t get all of that on my smartwatch version, obviously, but I did manage to get a few basics in there.

What I Did

I added a step counter, cause why not? Everyone loves a good step counter! It’s like Thursday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the golden hours for fun! I also put in a battery indicator. That’s super important, you don’t want your watch dying on you in the middle of the day. And for the final touch, I added the date. So yeah, it’s not exactly the same as the OMEGA X-33 Marstimer, but it’s got the same spirit. It’s like having a little piece of space exploration on my wrist. And it was fun to figure out how to make it all work. I’ve always been a bit of a tinkerer, so this was right up my alley.
