So, I set out on this little quest to find a decent copy of a Fendi Spy Bag. You know, the vintage leather kind? The real deal ones from back in the day. They’re pretty neat, but man, are they pricey! Anyway, I started digging around online, checking out all those fancy online shops. It took a while, but I finally narrowed it down to the vintage ones, figured that’s what I really wanted.
I stumbled upon this one site, had a whole bunch of ’em. But there was this one, a brown leather one, that just caught my eye. It was like, “That’s the one!” The leather looked so soft and worn in, just perfect. Now, I ain’t no expert on these things, but I did some more poking around. Asked a few folks online, didn’t get many bites, though.
But, one person did chime in. Said I should look for the limited edition ones from the Fall/Winter 2007 collection. Apparently, those are the ones designed by Karl Lagerfeld, and they’re extra special. I was like, “Okay, noted!” Kept that in the back of my mind. Anyway, I went back to looking at that brown one I found earlier.
It wasn’t specifically marked as a 2007, but it sure looked like it could be. It had that classic Spy Bag look, you know? I kept digging into the details. Read somewhere that the real ones, especially the vintage ones, they have this little tag inside. Says “FENDI Made in Italy“. And get this, if it’s made before 1980, it won’t even have a serial number! Also, it was created in 2005 by Silvia Fendi, that’s interesting!
Here’s what I learned about spotting a good copy:
- Check for that “FENDI Made in Italy” tag inside.
- No serial number? Might mean it’s pre-1980, which is kinda cool.
- Soft, worn-in leather is a good sign.
Now, I know these bags, even the good copies, they ain’t cheap. But I figured, if I’m gonna do it, I want one that’s as close to the real deal as possible. So, after a whole lot of searching and comparing, I finally decided to go for it. Took the plunge and ordered that beautiful brown leather Fendi Spy Bag.
When it finally arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Tore open that package and there it was. This gorgeous, vintage Fendi Spy Bag, in this beautiful, rich brown leather. It looked like it was in great condition, too. I checked for that tag, and sure enough, it was there. “FENDI Made in Italy”. Felt pretty good about my find.
It was a bit of a gamble, buying a copy online and all. But I gotta say, I think I lucked out. It’s not just a bag, it’s like a little piece of fashion history. And for a fraction of the price of a brand new one, I’d say it was worth it. So yeah, that’s my story of how I snagged a pretty darn good copy of a vintage Fendi Spy Bag. It was quite the adventure, but I’m happy with how it turned out.
