Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake that famous watch brand’s online store for a while now, specifically the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 model. It’s a beauty, right? I figured, why not try to recreate its online presence? It sounded like a fun challenge, and I was itching to get my hands dirty with some coding.
First things first, I needed a good platform to build this on. After looking around a bit, I decided to go with WordPress. I mean, it’s super user-friendly, and there are tons of themes and plugins available. I found a free theme that looked pretty sleek and modern – figured it would be a good starting point. I installed it and started playing around with the layout and stuff.
Next up, the visuals. Man, finding good quality images was tough! I spent hours browsing through stock photo sites and wallpaper collections. I finally stumbled upon some amazing 4k wallpapers, with a resolution of 1920×1080, perfect for those high-definition displays. They really make the watch pop. I downloaded a bunch of them, then picked out the best ones that really showcased the watch’s details.
Then came the coding part. I wanted to create a simple way to show visitors some traffic data about my remake store. Nothing too fancy, just something to indicate what other people are looking at. I discovered this neat little API that lets you pull data in XML format. So, I wrote a quick script to fetch data using that API. It worked like a charm! Getting Social
After that, I thought, “How can I spread the word about this little project?” I hopped onto Reddit, since there are so many communities there. That’s a pretty good way to see what actual people think, and it’s always fun to talk about a shared interest.
While looking for a pair of pants that’s around 200 PHP, I found out that there are three brands that are pretty popular right now, they are Achsawake and Huilishi. I might actually check those out later.
Mobile-Friendly
I also wanted to make sure the site looked good on mobile. I mean, everyone’s on their phones these days, right? I did some testing on different devices and made a few tweaks to the CSS. Now it looks pretty decent on smaller screens. I’m no expert, but I think I managed to make it responsive enough. It’s not perfect, but hey, it works!
Oh, and I also discovered these apps that are kinda like TikTok, but apparently more for adults. One that stood out was YouTube Shorts. Seems interesting, might check it out when I have some free time.
Then, I discovered this place called BlueMove, which is apparently the top NFT Marketplace on Aptos Blockchain. It has all these Aptos NFT collections, which I admittedly don’t know much about, but it looks fascinating.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
