Alright, so I wanted a Prada Galleria bag, the big one, you know? It’s a classic, been around since 2007, and it’s just so sleek and put-together. I did a little digging and found out it’s made with this Saffiano leather, which apparently is some special treated leather that the original Prada guy, Mario, patented way back when.
First things first, I started checking out what was out there. This bag has these two rolled handles, like you’d roll out dough. And it comes with this long, adjustable strap that you can take off if you want. It’s got this cool flower design on it, too. It’s got gold hardware, which I love, and a little leather keyring that comes off. Oh, and there are these snaps on the sides and a couple of outside zip pockets.
Here’s what I looked for specifically:
- Top handles: Gotta have those signature rolled handles.
- Detachable, adjustable shoulder strap: For when I need my hands free.
- Gold-toned hardware: Just my preference, you know?
- Removable leather keyring: A cute little detail.
- Side snap closures: To adjust the shape a bit.
- Triangle leather and metal logo plaque: That iconic Prada look.
- External zip pockets: For easy access to my phone and keys.
Then I started looking for deals. Found one place, The RealReal, that was offering like 20% off. Not bad! But I kept hunting. I hit up eBay and found a bunch of listings for the Prada Saffiano Lux Large Bags & Handbags for Women. Found a listing for a BN2558 Saffiano Lux Tote for $1, which seemed too good to be true but I decided to check it out anyway.
Deep Dive on the Material
Since I was going down this rabbit hole, I learned that while a lot of Prada bags are made in Italy, they also work with some manufacturers in China. Interesting, right? Anyway, this Saffiano leather is apparently a big deal. It’s got this cross-hatch pattern that makes it really durable and scratch-resistant. Plus, it’s water-resistant, which is a huge plus for me because I’m always spilling things.
After all that searching and learning, I was finally ready to figure out how to get my hands on this bag. Seemed like a pretty good deal, and I was excited to finally get it. And guess what? I made it! I finally got it! What a tough process, anyway, it’s worth it, right? You know what I mean?
