Okay, so, I’ve been wanting a PRADA Cahier bag for, like, forever. But those prices? Crazy, right? So I thought, “Why not try to remake one myself?” I mean, how hard could it be? Turns out, a bit harder than I expected, but still a fun ride.
First, I searched everywhere online. I needed to really understand the bag’s design, the materials, all that stuff. I looked up everything about that bag, I even checked a website called eBay but didn’t really buy anything, just wanted some ideas.
Then, I started gathering materials. I didn’t want to use real leather, it is too expensive, I went with this good quality faux leather instead. It actually looks pretty close to the real thing. Finding the right hardware was a pain, though. The clasps, the rings, those little metal details – I searched online for days, and finally found some on an old website that sells all types of things.

- I also got some fabric for the lining, some thread, and all the other bits and pieces.
Next, the real work began. I drafted a pattern based on the pictures and dimensions I found online. It was a lot of trial and error, let me tell you. Cutting the faux leather was nerve-wracking! I didn’t want to mess it up because it wasn’t cheap, even if it was fake. Sewing it all together took ages. I’m not exactly a pro with a sewing machine, so there were a few mishaps along the way. I had to unpick seams and re-sew them more times than I care to admit.
Assembling the Bag
The hardest part was definitely getting the structure right. The Cahier bag is pretty rigid, and I wanted to make sure mine had that same kind of sturdiness. I used some stiff interfacing material to give it that shape, and it worked pretty well. I also added some padding to make it feel a bit more luxurious.
Then it was time for the hardware. I carefully attached the clasps and rings, making sure everything was aligned and secure. I used some strong glue and even did a little extra stitching for reinforcement. It took a while, but I finally got everything in place.
The Final Touches
For the lining, I chose a simple black fabric. Nothing too fancy, just something to make the inside look neat and tidy. I sewed it in by hand, which was a bit tedious, but it gave it a nice, clean finish.
Finally, after weeks of work, my DIY PRADA Cahier bag was complete! It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and the faux leather isn’t exactly the same as the real deal. But, you know what? I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a decent replica, and it cost me a fraction of the price of a real one. Plus, I made it myself, which makes it kind of special.
It was a lot of work, but I learned so much along the way. And now I have a cool new bag to show off! It’s not a perfect PRADA, but it’s my PRADA, and that’s good enough for me.
