Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another little project I’ve been messing around with. This time, it’s all about getting my hands on one of those fancy OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches, the ones with the see-through back. You know, the kind you can stare at all day and just watch those little gears and springs do their thing. I’ve always been a sucker for a good watch, and this one’s been on my wishlist for a while.
So, first things first, I started hitting up the usual spots online. Checked out the official OMEGA website, just to get a feel for the different models and prices. I mean that I like the style of the Steel – Sedna gold watch (Ref. 310.23.42.50.99.001), so beautiful! But man, those things are not cheap! We’re talking some serious dough. I also browsed a few of those online watch forums and communities, just to see what other people were saying about them. Learned a lot about the history of the Moonwatch and its connection to space and all that cool stuff. Even if you’re not a space nerd, it’s a pretty neat story. “Loved on Earth and beyond,” they say. Sounds about right to me.
I spent a good few weeks just soaking up information like a sponge. Reading reviews, watching videos, comparing different models, the whole nine yards. Found out that even though it’s a big watch, like 42mm, it actually wears pretty comfortably. Smaller than some other watches I’ve tried on. Also learned about the manual-wind movement and the Hesalite crystal – all that stuff that makes it a classic. Then they bumped it up to “Master Chronometer” in 2021, whatever that means. It’s the closest to the original model worn on the Moon. The design is almost the same. That’s crazy!
After a while, I decided to check out some local places, like that classifieds website. You know, just to see if anyone was selling a used one or something. No luck there, mostly just people selling apartments and stuff. Speaking of apartments, I saw a two-bedroom place for rent, but that’s a story for another day. But I need to save money to buy this watch.
Then, I remembered I had a trip to San Jose coming up for work. Thought maybe I’d get lucky and find a good deal at a watch shop there. Booked my flight, which was surprisingly cheap, thanks to those budget airlines. Again, saving every penny I can for this watch!
Anyways, after all that searching and comparing, I finally found one that I really liked, and it wasn’t going to totally break the bank. It didn’t have all the bells and whistles of the super expensive models, but it had that classic Moonwatch look and that awesome transparent case back. And honestly, that’s all I really cared about.
- Scoured the OMEGA website for different models and prices.
- Dug deep into online watch forums and communities for insights and reviews.
- Learned about the Moonwatch’s history and connection to space exploration.
- Read up on the watch’s features, like its size, movement, and crystal.
- Checked out local classifieds for used options.
- Planned to look for deals in San Jose during a work trip.
- Finally found a model I loved that fit my budget.
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I got my hands on an OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with a transparent case back. It was a bit of a journey, but totally worth it. Now I’ve got this beautiful piece of machinery on my wrist, and I can’t stop looking at it.
What a ride!
It’s been a fun ride and a good learning experience. If you are looking for a watch like this, do your research, be patient, and don’t be afraid to look around. You might just find a gem that’s perfect for you. But I still need more money, LOL.
