So, I’ve been thinkin’ about gettin’ a new watch for a while now. And I saw this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the open case back. Sounded cool, right? Like seein’ the guts of the thing.
First, I hit up a few of those watch stores, the fancy ones, you know? I had to take a look at these things in person. I asked the guy about the “Moonwatch” thing, and he said it’s ’cause it’s like the ones astronauts wore. Whatever, I just liked the look.
- Checked out the original ones first.
- They were way too much money. I mean, seriously?
Then, I start lookin’ into these copy versions. You can find ’em, but you gotta be careful. Some are real junk. I went to this one shop that had a bunch of ’em. The guy there, he was alright. He showed me a few different ones. Some had that open back, some didn’t.
It’s kinda neat, seein’ all them little gears and stuff movin’ around. Reminds me of when I was a kid, takin’ apart my dad’s old alarm clock. You can just watch it for hours.
I finally picked one out. It felt good on my wrist, not too heavy, not too light. And that open back, man, it’s just cool to look at. This one’s a copy, so it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. It’s got that black face, just like the real deal. And the hands glow in the dark, which is kinda handy, I guess.
Took a while to get used to winding it myself.
I almost forgot about that. I put it on, showed it off a bit. I wound it up, and it was tickin’ away. It felt… official, you know? Like I was part of some club or somethin’.
The build quality is pretty darn good, I gotta say. It doesn’t feel cheap or anything. It is a little tricky to wind, it is a manual one, not like those automatic ones. But hey, it’s part of the charm, right?
I’ve had it for a few weeks now. Still love lookin’ at that open back. It’s a good conversation starter, too. People ask about it, and I get to tell ’em all about the Moonwatch and all that. Even though mine’s a copy, I still feel like a million bucks wearin’ it.
