Well, let’s talk about that fancy bag, the YSL Envelope thingy. I ain’t never owned one myself, mind you, but I seen ’em in pictures and heard the ladies chattin’. It’s a YSL Envelope bag, you know, the one them city gals carry.

Now, I hear tell some folks are lookin’ to “remake” it or somethin’. Don’t rightly know what that means, sounds like fixin’ up an old barn to me. But I reckon it means they want a cheaper version or maybe they want to fix up the old one they got. If it’s broke, why not just sew it up? That’s what I always did with my old clothes.

Anyways, this here YSL Envelope bag, it’s real popular I guess. Some ladies like the crossbody way for when they’re runnin’ around doin’ errands. Says it’s good for a “casual day look,” whatever that means. Then they can switch it to their shoulder for when they go out at night. Sounds fancy, huh? Me, I just carry my stuff in a good ol’ burlap sack, strong and sturdy, holds everything I need.

  • Crossbody style: For everyday use.
  • Shoulder style: For a night out on the town.

Now, I seen some folks sellin’ little kits to change up the bag, make it a “pouch” or somethin’. They call it a “conversion kit,” like changin’ a tractor into a plow. It’s for makin’ it a coin purse, which seems kinda silly to me. Why would you turn a perfectly good bag into somethin’ so small? But then again, I ain’t no fancy city lady. These kits, they’re handmade, so I guess that’s special. Folks like things that are special, even if they don’t make much sense.

I heard tell there’s a lot of fake bags out there too. Seems like folks try to cheat you every which way. They say the real ones, they got smooth leather, none of that bumpy stuff you see on the cheap ones. Real smooth, like a baby’s bottom, my grandma used to say. And the real ones, they say “Made in Italy” on ’em. Italy, that’s a far-off place, ain’t it? If it says somethin’ else, it’s a fake, just like them plastic flowers they sell at the market, looks pretty but ain’t real.

How to tell a real YSL Envelope bag from a fake:

  • Leather Quality: Real bags have smooth, luxurious leather. Fake ones have bumpy, rough leather.
  • Origin: Real YSL bags say “Made in Italy”. Anything else is a fake.

Now, there’s this other bag they talk about, the Saint Laurent Kate bag. They call it a classic, means it’s been around a while, I guess. It’s another one of them fancy bags, pretty and all, but I bet it ain’t as practical as my burlap sack. But them city gals, they like pretty things. And I hear tell it sells real good, this Kate bag. So, it must be somethin’ special. But the envelope bag, seems like that’s the one people are wanting to remake or get a good deal on. That says somethin’ to me. That means that is the bag to have right there. If people are looking to get a deal on a bag it’s because it’s a good bag.

So, if you’re lookin’ to “remake” a YSL Envelope bag, or buy one, or whatever it is you young folks are doin’, just remember what I told ya. Smooth leather, made in Italy, and don’t get fooled by them fakes. And if you can’t afford it, well, there ain’t nothin’ wrong with a good ol’ burlap sack, holds just as much and it’s strong as an ox.

And if you get one, just make sure it’s something that is going to last ya a while. You want a bag that can do what you want it to do. It needs to be strong enough. A lot of those bags out there are real pretty but you can’t carry but a stick of butter and your lipstick in it. Why would I want that? I need to be able to carry my things in my bag. I guess you need to figure out what you need.

Now this whole bag thing seems a little silly to me, all this talk of how to buy it and what to do with it. You carry your stuff in it and that should be the end of it, but like I said I aint one of those city girls.
