Remake PRADA Large Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag: A Classic Style for Everyday Use.

Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about my little project of remaking the large Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag. Yeah, the classic style. I’ve always loved the look of this bag, it’s just so darn classy and seems to go with everything. But, you know, the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to make one myself?

First things first, I started by looking up everything I could about this bag. Turns out, the material they use is called Saffiano leather. I found out it’s real leather that’s been treated and stamped with this special pattern. It’s not like that full-grain leather that gets that worn-in look over time, you know, the patina. This Saffiano stuff stays looking the same.

Then I got to work finding the materials. Let me tell you, finding decent Saffiano leather that didn’t cost a fortune was a real pain. I went to so many stores, both online and in person. Finally, I found a place that had some good quality stuff that was close enough to the real deal and didn’t break the bank. Oh, and I also needed to find some good quality hardware, like the zippers and the little metal feet. I tried to use some similar hardware parts like a real Prada bag.

Next, I got to cutting and sewing. I’m not gonna lie, this part was tough. I’ve done some sewing before, but this was a whole other level. I used some thick leather, just like they do on the real bags. I watched a bunch of videos online about how to work with leather, and let me tell you, it’s not easy. There were a lot of messed up pieces and wonky seams in the beginning.

  • Cutting: This took forever. You gotta be so precise with leather, or it ends up looking all wrong.
  • Sewing: I broke so many needles. And my fingers were sore for days.
  • Hardware: Putting in the zipper was the hardest part. I had to redo it like three times.

But, I kept at it. I mean, I wasn’t gonna give up after all that work, right? Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. I even managed to get that little Prada logo thing on the front, though it’s definitely not as perfect as the real one. But still, pretty good for a homemade job, if I do say so myself.

Finally, after weeks of work, it was done. And you know what? It actually turned out pretty darn good! It’s not exactly like the real Prada bag, of course. I saw some people online calling them “Prada look alike bags” or “Fake Prada bags”, and yeah, I guess mine kind of falls into that category. But hey, it looks similar, it’s made of real Saffiano leather, and it didn’t cost me thousands of dollars. I can also carry my stuff in it, and it looks stylish.

The Result

All in all, I’m pretty proud of my little project. It was a lot of work, but I learned a ton about working with leather, and I ended up with a pretty cool bag. Now I can rock that classic Prada style without having to sell my car to afford it. Win-win!
